2025

Artist in residence from April 2025, Audréanne Filion, is a Montreal-based cellist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and improviser.
“During my five whole days at Domaine des Lignes, I walked on the edges of the border, recorded sounds of water, sang with the trees, played slow, breathy chords on the pianorgan, watched Scarface in the scary dark, read the two MAUS volumes, and somehow came back with five new tracks—and with them, a new intention toward creation. It felt like a return to my cocoon, where the absence of noise made space for a clearer honesty with myself. Thanks to Sophie and AP for sharing their strange, liminal space.”

Phyla
Montreal Electro-Drumcore duo Phyla, (Liam Welch, Liam Blackwell) joined us from Montreal for a composition residency in May 2025.
"For our stay at Domaine des Lignes we set out to finish some tracks we’ve been working on, some of which we initially planted the seeds of back at the Domaine in the winter of 2024. Our spring residency was the perfect opportunity for us to set up and lock in among the bird song and misty mountains for a precious few days. Huge props to AP for his role as “facilitator” during our stay, he provided us needed audience, sounding board, advice… hell he even hopped on the microphone and took flight with us. To have a place to get stuck in, fall down, get back up, boil and simmer was invaluable for us at this point in our creative process. We left having realized much of what we set out to do with our compositions, turned over a bunch of unexpected stones, and with some diamond memories forged in the sonic mines of Domaine des Lignes."

Fili 周 Gibbons
Our last resident of June 2025 from Montreal, Fili 周 Gibbons (we / you / they) are 8char plural beings of Chinese-Canadian ancestry who create and record hybrid sound performances and digital memory tapestry.
“While at Domaine des Lignes, we spent some time exploring songwriting from a place of solitude and deep sensual immersion in the space. We wrote 12 song fragments we hope to evolve into our first solo album. We also sketched out code for a land-based ritual app for web browsers using 3js and web audio API. We explored many of the instruments in the space — guitar, organ and mini-Korg — and also discovered new connections between sound and body. On our final night, we walked to the edge of the marshland near the Domaine, and recorded a chorus of ~100 frogs singing in unison.“

Charline Dally
September 2025 brought us Charline Dally, French born but Montreal based sound artist.
“Charline Dally’s practice explores analogue
video signals generated by electric currents to transform personal and scientific archival images. They presented their most recent solo exhibitions at Montréal’s Diagonale (this womb of things to be, 2024) and Rimouski’s Caravansérail (blue vessel, 2025).
During her residency at Domaine des lignes, they created a new video about nostalgia for total eclipse and recorded a voice-over/guided visualization.”

A collaborative project between pianist Vivian Li and harpist Coralie Gauthier, Echönymphia joined us from Montreal in May 2025.
“Staying at Domaine des lignes felt like time was suspended for a few days. We found ourselves in a secret wilderness bubble with dozens of warblers, the scent of freshly opened balsam poplar buds and a lot of moss to stroke. We quickly took comfort in brewing herbal teas and doing tarot readings in our cozy little nest-cabin. The colors and spaciousness of the studio fueled our jams with good energies. Our new album will be infused with the spirit of the place and its inhabitants, and we are deeply grateful to Sophie and AP for sharing a piece of it with us!”

Clay Pigeon
Musical project Clay pigeon, led by James Clayton, came to Domaine des Lignes in March 2025 from Montreal to workshop some new music.
“It was easy to make the most of the little time we had at Domaine. The property feels like it’s suspended in a sort of grey area, where the hours last a little longer than normal. I found myself walking slower and speaking less.
We weren’t exactly sure what we wanted from those sessions, but I knew whatever we tried in that room would work. Both the sound and pace we found at domaine will serve as the underpinnings of our next project.
Much Love to Sophie, AP, and Milo for sharing your beautiful home with us! <3 ”

Big Share
In July 2025, Chesley and Luke of Big Share visited Domaine des Lignes from Montreal for a songwriting residency with their son Jasper.
“After some extended time away from writing together, we needed the kind of space that Domaine has, which is both inspiring and also capacious. As new parents of a young kid, it’s been so frustrating feeling like residency environments really don’t include parents in their definitions of “working artists,” so being allowed to live in that messy question of how to make it work actually helped us MAKE IT WORK and write in all the liminal spaces! So grateful.”

Artist in residence from early June 2025, Gaëlle Legrand is an artist based in Montréal who works with sculpture, photograph and video.
“The Domaine des Lignes residency created a perfect context for inspiration, where I felt focus and grounded in my practice. It seemed I could slow down time and freely explore creative ideas that ultimately helped me complete several projects. In a week, I completed a photography project and had the opportunity to test different setups in the woods for a sculptural installation I have been developing over the past year, made of aluminum and bronze sandcast pieces. Throughout my studio time, my breaks were spent enjoying the woods and the fresh air by day, and the stars and silence by night."

ellen belshaw and Hannah Materne
In June we welcomed ellen belshaw and Hannah Materne to Domaine des Lignes to develop a poem based on the nature around the property, a project that evolved over their one week stay.
“For a week in June, ellen belshaw and Hannah Materne observed the surroundings of Domaine des Lignes, writing poetry centred on the specific phenomena of this place and its time. They settled into an easy rhythm of observing in the morning and writing in the late afternoon.
“Here we let the land, the weather, and the wildlife choose the path for us, and ended up with a poem that documents a splinter of time near the solstice, and the buzz of species who were there to share it with us. We look forward to making it public soon!”
Hannah is a poet and tattoo artist, and ellen is a curator, writer and archivist. Longtime collaborators, this was the first time the pair had endeavoured to write poetry together.”

No Cosmos
No Cosmos aka Scott Bevins is a Montreal-based trumpeter/composer/producer who draws on influences from experimental jazz and electronic music with a concern for balancing exploration with emotional impact, and joined us in August 2025.
“I went to Domaine with the goal of bridging the different parts of my practice - improvising with trumpet and electronics, making beats, and sound design. With my only strict guideline for myself being that I begin each morning by practicing some trumpet fundamentals, I let each day follow an intuitive flow - improvising live electronic sets, playing my horn in the woods, gathering field recordings, reading, reciting poetry, collecting fallen birch bark, looking at the stars, shouting at the sun, and generally digging into the generous solitude that the residency offers. After a week I left full to the brim with fresh inspiration. My biggest thanks to Sophie and AP for creating and sharing such a wonderful space.”

Alexia Avina
Alexia Avina is an experimental ambient folk / pop artist formerly residing in Montreal and now based in NYC, who traveled to Domaine des Lignes in September 2025. Known for her deft use of textural live looping, her music balances between spaciousness and restraint, and is always evolving.
“I came to the Domaine des Lignes residency without a clear project to work on, it was mostly an intention. I’ve been feeling disconnected from music for a while now and was seeking a way to heal my way back to my practice. I allowed myself space to rest and read and walk alongside creating new songs and finishing up old and nearly forgotten ones.”
2024

In May 2024, Montreal based experimental electronic musician and sound artist Bénédicte (Maxime Gordon) spent one week at Domaine des Lignes capturing field recordings, and exploring the visual and sonic qualities of the surrounding nature.
